Most of our friends know how to format Windows Xp. In general what we will do is simply by puting the Xp cd in CD/DVD ROM, and press any key to boot from cd and bla… bla…, it’s an easy procedure. But in case of CD/DVD ROM free computers ? for example Acer Latest laptops are not having the CD ROM inserted in it, in those cases cd type formating is some what difficult so i am searched a lot for avoiding this problem finally problem solved. We can install Windows Operating system with our USB Flash Drive ( Pendrive ), just follow the procedure below.- First Download the Komku-SP-usb ( Freeware ) this can open with Winrar download and Unzip it, and install.
- You can locate folder C:\Komku\PeToUSB\
- Now double click on PeToUSB.exe

- That will opens a window like, choose the options as i done.

- Now Click on start button –> then a window will open as
Click on Yes - Now again another window will opens, press Yes

- Now the window after pressing yes button on above step will be

press ok - Now you can close PeToUSB window.
- Now open Run –> type cmd –>press ok then a Command Prompt window will open

- Now come to C:\Komku\bootsect\ i think you understand this step so i am going to next step, if not check commands that will take around 30-40sec
- The window will be

- Now type boostsect /nt52 M: [ Hear M is my (USB)0pendrive letter ]
This may be different with yours ok. now the screen will beC:\komku\bootsect>bootsect /nt52 M: - Press enter
- Now on the resulting screen, it will shows that “Successfully updated filesystem bootcode. Bootcode was succesfully updated on all targeted volumes.” . Now type cd.. (remember just two dots after cd ) see below figure

- Then the screen will be

- Now type cd usb_prep8 and press enter then the screen will be

- Now type usb_prep8 again… and pres Enter

- After press the enter button the screen will be

- So it asking to press any key to continue… so press any key then the screen will becomes

- Ya hear we come to the original menu,0) Change Type of USB-Drive, currently [USB-stick]
1) Change XP Setup Source Path, currently []
2) Change Virtual TempDrive, currently [T:]
3) Change Target USB-Drive Letter, currently []
4) Make New Tempimage with XP LocalSource and Copy to USB-Drive
5) Use Existing Tempimage with XP LocalSource and Copy to USB-Drive
F) Change Log File – Simple OR Extended, currently [Simple]
Q) Quit - So first select the source path of Windows xp cd for that press 1 and select the xp cd path like below and press ok

- press 2 for changing Virtual TempDrive, if letter T is currently assigned to a drive in your computer, you must change it, as i said above as just type letter and press enter if not, leave it as it is
- Press 3 for Change Target USB-Drive Letter, This means that just select your prendrive letter thats it. Mine is M and press enter
- Press 4 and press Enter to make new temporary image with XP LocalSource and copy it to USB Flash Drive please wait a few seconds..

- “WARNING, ALL DATA ON NON-REMOVABLE DISK DRIVE T: WILL BE LOST! Proceed with Format (Y/N)?” type Y and press Enter please wait, when format virtual disk complete, it will shows press any key to continue, then just press any key like below

- Now that will create the files for the pendrive in the LocalSource folder This may take a few minutes to complete so please wait……….

- After making ” LocalSource folder $WIN_NT$.~LS Ready” it will asks for Press any key to continue… then just press any key

- Then we will get a new window as

Just press Yes
- Then all files will be copyed to the USB, then “Would you like USB-stick to be preferred Boot Drive ……..,ect …Click Yes

Finally “Would you like to unmount the Virtual Drive ?” Just Click Yes, wait a few seconds, and press any key, press any key again to close usb_prep8. Now you can install the windows xp with your pendrive You are done!
Should follow:
- At restart 1st go to bios and give the major priority for USB drive and enable the similor options regarding the USB
- After boot with the pendrive, you can see two options as
“TXT Mode Setup Windows XP, Never unplug USB-Drive Until After Logon” & GUI Mode setup Windows XP, Continue Setup + Start XP“ - So first select TXT Mode Setup Windows XP, after next restart select the GUI Mode setup Windows XP,
- Continue Windows XP setup…. and Done! Windows XP Installed.
- Some computers will not supports the USB boot, especially old pc’s
